WHAT IS WUSHU?

Wushu (武術) literally translates from Chinese into "martial art". It dates back thousands of years from Imperial China. Today, wushu is a competitive sport that is split primarily into two discplines - taolu (performance based routines) and sanda (contact fighting).

The LWC is a taolu club, teaching martial art skills and techniques to be performed in pre-choreographed routines. Taolu routines can take a variety of open hand forms, the most common being Changquan - long fist boxing and Nanquan - southern fist boxing.

Wushu taolu also encompasses weapon routines such as straight sword (jianshu), northern and southen broad sword (daoshu/ nandao), staff (gunshu) and spears (qiangshu).
